Celebrating at the formal ribbon cutting of the new
Accessible Trail off Church Street in Ware.

We’re pleased to invite people of all ages and abilities to explore the newest segment of the Mass Central Rail Trail, including a short loop to the bank of the Ware River. On Thursday, October 17th the ribbon cutting was well attended despite the rain. We want to thank the Town of Ware for allowing the formalized parking area and helping with the crosswalk. Also, the Edward and Barbara Urban Foundation, the Fields Pond Foundation and the Mass Trails grant program made critical investments in this tremendous trail creation project.

Visitors catch this 1/2 mile section of rail trail from Upper Church Street (#250 Church Street for GPS navigation purposes) just on the west side of the Ware River. There is a seven car parking lot and crosswalk with alerting lights to alert drivers to people using the crosswalk.

We are currently in the permitting and permission request phase to expand the rail trail on either side. We hope to move this process along so that construction of the next phase can begin in 2020.
