Micro-grant Farmer Networking

Yesterday a group of farmers shared a meal together and talked about farming in the East Quabbin region. Many of them recently received a micro-grant through the East Quabbin Land Trust to support their efforts in growing good food for our community.

The farmers are raising a mix of vegetables or animals for consumption. Some are new to farming and others have decades of experience. Building a network with other farmers is important in supporting their efforts, whether that’s to provide other outlets for their products, share labor or equipment, working in community is beneficial.

Also, representatives from the Quaboag Food Policy Council came to ask the farmers’ opinions about access to food and programs to allow more food to be sold and eaten locally.
