The wind was blowing this morning, making it a bit chilly. Once we got going it was a fabulous walk along the Dougal ridge. We started out at the northeastern corner by crossing Danforth Brook and heading up hill. On the way to the Bugle overlook of Gilbertville we passed a short waterfall and a long stretch of rock outcropping. The walk along the ridge goes through a mixed oak and hickory forest. As we reached the end of the walk we crossed onto the Hyde Woodlot (purchased by the land trust in 2009) which was dominated by white pines. At the bottom of the last drop we reached Muddy Brook. A beautiful day for a walk!
